On 16th August 2025, twenty-five students from Sikkim Government College, Namchi attended
the District Level Consultation on the Integrated Economic Inclusion Action Plan (IEIAP) under
Sikkim INSPIRES, organized by the Rural Development Department at Town Hall, Namchi.
The programme was graced by Deputy Speaker SLA Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa, Minister of Urban
Development Department Shri Bhoj Raj Rai, Area MLA Shri Satish Chandra Rai, along with the
DC Namchi , SDM, BDOs of Namchi sub-constituencies, administrative heads, SHG members,
and Panchayat representatives.
The consultation began with a presentation on the introduction and objectives of IEIAP by Mr.
Nima Tashi Bhutia, Senior Planning Coordinator. This was followed by Mr. Gyan Prasad Sharma
(TSA, RDD) who shared survey data related to employment and enterprise. Ms. Anupama Rai
highlighted the economic activities and challenges in the Ravangla division, while Ms. Priya
Darshani Pradhan presented the draft district plan for Namchi.
An open discussion session enabled participants to deliberate on challenges and explore the
potential aspects of the plan.
The programme concluded with a Youth Consultation Session, where students engaged in
interactive discussions on entrepreneurship, skill development, and government support
schemes for aspiring entrepreneurs. This session offered practical insights into how youth can
actively contribute to economic growth and self-reliance.
For the attending students, the consultation proved to be highly enriching and inspiring,
encouraging them to think beyond conventional career paths, explore entrepreneurship, and
contribute meaningfully to society.
