INTRODUCTION
The English Department made a humble beginning in the year 1995 during the initial phase i.e. the year 2000, the faculty members were Ms. Patsy Shanker and Dr. Sarita Sharma. At the end of the year 2000, Dr. Laxmi Rai joined the Department, in 2001 Mr. Uttam Kumar Upadhaya became a part of the department.
Department was headed by Dr. Laxmi Rai and Mr. D.K Rai as a part time faculty in 2004, Mr B.C Rai also joined as part time faculty member.
In 2008 Dr. Laxmi Rai, Mr. Uttam Kumar Upadhaya Ms. Norbu Doma Bhutia, Mr. Yon Tshering lepcha, Mr. Manoj Bhagat, Ms. Jyoti Chettri and Ms. Pavitra Sharma were the faculty members.
In 2018 Mr. Tshering Namgyal Bhutia became the head of the department. In 2023 Dr. Laxmi Rai became the head of the department.
