Introduction: A one-day orientation programme on the topic “Students’ Campus Behaviour” was organized by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under the banner of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Sikkim Government College, Namchi. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about responsible behaviour, discipline, ethical conduct, mutual respect, and maintaining a safe and inclusive campus environment.

The orientation focused on sensitizing students about their roles and responsibilities as members of the academic community and encouraged them to follow positive behavioural practices that contribute to a healthy learning atmosphere.

Objectives of the Programme:

The main objectives of the orientation programme were:

• To create awareness about appropriate behaviour and conduct within the college campus.
• To promote respect, dignity, and equality among students.
• To sensitize students about maintaining a safe and harmonious campus environment.
• To encourage responsible use of college facilities and resources.
• To highlight the importance of discipline, cooperation, and ethical values among students.

Welcome Address: The programme began with a welcome speech delivered by Ms. Diki O. Lepcha, who welcomed the resource person, faculty members, and students. In her address, she emphasized the importance of maintaining positive campus behaviour and highlighted the role of students in creating a respectful and inclusive academic environment.

She encouraged students to understand their responsibilities and contribute towards building a campus culture based on mutual respect, discipline, and cooperation.

Resource Person’s Session: The orientation session was conducted by Mrs. Pema Uden Sherpa as the resource person. She delivered an insightful presentation on “Students’ Campus Behaviour” and discussed various aspects related to student conduct and responsibilities.

The major points covered during the session included:

• Importance of discipline and punctuality in academic life.
• Respectful communication and behaviour towards peers, teachers, and staff.
• Maintaining cleanliness and proper use of campus facilities.
• Understanding students’ rights and responsibilities.
• Promoting gender sensitivity, inclusiveness, and respect for diversity.
• Avoiding misconduct and contributing to a safe and positive campus environment.

The session was interactive and students actively participated in discussions and shared their views.

Vote of Thanks: The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Bhim Thapa. He expressed gratitude to the resource person, college authorities, IQAC, Internal Complaints Committee members, faculty members, and students for their valuable support and participation in making the programme successful.

Outcome of the Programme: The orientation programme successfully created awareness among students regarding responsible campus behaviour and the importance of maintaining discipline, respect, and harmony within the college community.
