Painting Competition Highlights Day 5 of Aarohan

On the unofficial fifth day of the college fest Aarohan, the one-day painting competition emerged as the major highlight of the event. The painting competition featured renowned artist Mr. Deepak Raj as the invited judge. 

The event saw participation from students of all semesters under the theme “Harmony of Culture and Nature in Sikkim,”allowing participants to creatively express their artistic interpretations. Contestants were given a maximum time limit of two-and-a-half hours to complete their paintings. At the end of the segment, the invited judge conducted a live painting session, during which he painted a portrait of Principal Dr. Deepak Tiwari.

Sports events also continued throughout the day, including volleyball, football, tug-of-war, table tennis, chess, carrom, and eSports competitions. 

A total of four volleyball matches were played today, in which the Nepali (Boys) team along with the Commerce (Girls), Nepali (Girls), and Physical Education (Girls) teams booked their places in the next round. The Boys’ volleyball quarterfinals and the Girls’ volleyball semi-finals are scheduled for tomorrow.

In the football tournament, Education defeated Physical Education in the first Boys’ semi-final, while Geography secured victory against Lepcha in the second semi-final to advance to the finals. In the Girls’ category, Physical Education defeated Lepcha/Bhutia, while Geography overcame Education to book their places in the finals.

The chess competition also commenced today, with participants competing across multiple rounds. The pre-quarterfinal matches are scheduled to be played tomorrow as the tournament moves into more competitive stage.

The eSports tournament also witnessed intense competition. Following the semifinal rounds, the finalists were confirmed. In E-Football, Mausam Pradhan will face Muksam Limboo in the final, while Zoology will compete against Geography in the Mobile Legends final.

Round 3 of the Carrom competition for both boys and girls was completed successfully, and the quarterfinal matches are scheduled to be played on 18th May. The quarterfinal rounds of Tug of War for both boys and girls were also completed successfully. In the Girls’ semi-finals, Commerce will face Education, while Physical Education will compete against History. In the Boys’ category, Commerce will take on Geography, and History will face Education in the semi-final matches scheduled for 18th May 2026. Meanwhile, the Table Tennis quarterfinals are also set to take place on 18th May.

By the end of the fifth day of the unofficial fest, most of the preliminary and multi-round events had been completed, while several quarterfinals, semi-finals, and finals still remain to be played. The official events of the fest will commence on 18th May with an early morning marathon scheduled for 6 a.m. During the official inauguration of the fest, Honourable MLA Shri Satish Chandra Rai and other distinguished guests are expected to be present.
