The Department of Botany in collaboration with the Nature Club of Sikkim Government College, Namchi organized a One- Day talk for the students of the Botany and Zoology Honours. The primary objective of the session was to provide an insight in the “Indian Knowledge System”
The event commenced at 11:30AM with the welcoming of guest with the offering of khada by Mrs. Yeden Bhutia followed by the welcome speech deliverd by Mr. Chuzing Lepcha. Mr. Pradeep took over the session with comprehensive presentation and talk covering over many core topics including – Traditional Medicine Heritages of India, Preserving the Traditional Medicine Heritages of India, Indian Knowledge System (IKS), Ethnobiology and Ecology, Ecosystem and Ethnobiology, AYUSH System, Sovereignty and Legal protection and Historic battles against Bio piracy. The technical session was followed by a short interactive session with active participation shown by the students and faculty.
The invited speaker proved to be highly informative a was very much successful in sharing his insight with the making the session fruitful. The session successfully concluded with the offering of memento and appreciation letter to the speaker by the organizer expressing their gratitude to the speaker for sharing his time, knowledge and expertise.
