The Department of Chemistry,
Sikkim Government College, Namchi, organized a Chart Exhibition on 11 August
2026 as part of its academic and co-curricular activities. The exhibition
featured charts on a wide range of topics from different areas of chemistry and
aimed to promote creative, experiential, and student-centred learning.
The exhibition provided students
with an opportunity to explore and present scientific concepts through
attractive and informative visual displays. Students prepared charts using
diagrams, flowcharts, chemical structures, equations, illustrations, and
relevant examples. More than 50 students actively participated in the activity,
demonstrating enthusiasm and considerable interest in researching and
presenting their selected topics.
The exhibition also encouraged
students to move beyond conventional classroom learning and develop a deeper
understanding of chemistry and its applications. During the event, students
explained their exhibits to faculty members, fellow students, and visitors. The
interactive presentations created an engaging academic environment and
encouraged peer learning and discussion.
The activity contributed to the
development of several important skills among students, including creativity,
scientific thinking, information gathering, teamwork, communication, and
presentation skills. It also helped students gain confidence in explaining
scientific concepts and understand the relevance of chemistry in everyday life
and society.
The faculty members of the
Department of Chemistry provided continuous guidance throughout the activity.
They assisted students in selecting appropriate topics, gathering relevant
scientific information, organizing their content, and ensuring the accuracy of
chemical concepts. Faculty members also interacted with participants during the
exhibition and offered constructive suggestions to improve their presentations.
The Chart Exhibition successfully
combined academic knowledge, creativity, teamwork, and scientific
communication. The enthusiastic participation of students reflected their
interest in chemistry and their willingness to engage in innovative learning
activities. The exhibition thus served as a valuable platform for enhancing
students’ academic understanding as well as their overall communicative and
collaborative abilities.
The Department of Chemistry
intends to continue organizing similar academic activities in the future to
promote active learning, scientific awareness, creativity, and meaningful
student participation.
