Namchi, May 20, 2026: The third day of the much-awaited Aarohan Fest at SGC Namchi unfolded with great enthusiasm and excitement as students gathered to witness the grand finals of several cultural and sporting events. The campus came alive with music, dance, creativity, and youthful energy, making the day one of the most vibrant highlights of the annual festival.
The major attractions of the day included the finals of the dance competition, talent hunt, solo singing competition “Voice Idol of College 2026,” fashion show, and the much-anticipated inter-college Battle of the Bands. Students from different colleges delivered captivating performances, reflecting exceptional talent, dedication, and artistic expression.
Among all the events, the dance performances stood out for their colorful presentation and deep cultural significance. Participants beautifully showcased Sikkim’s rich multicultural heritage through traditional performances such as Newari, Rai, Lepcha, Maruni, and Chabrung dances. The performances not only entertained the audience but also celebrated the unique identities and traditions of the diverse communities of the state.
The solo singing competition witnessed intense competition among seven talented finalists. After a series of impressive performances, Ashish Biswakarma was crowned the winner of the prestigious “Voice Idol of College 2026.” Ms. Upasna Gurung secured the first runner-up position, while Salina Lohar emerged as the second runner-up.
In the group dance competition, Silli Dance captivated both judges and audience members to claim the first prize. Folk Crew secured the first runner-up position, while Lepcha Dance earned the second runner-up title for their graceful and culturally rich performance.
The talent hunt competition also drew loud cheers from the audience as participants displayed their unique skills and creativity. In the boys’ category, Rahul Biswakarma won first prize for his powerful poetry performance, while Surya Raj Tamang secured second place with an energetic dance act. Aryan Rizal impressed the crowd with his rap performance and finished in third position.
The fashion show added glamour and elegance to the evening, with contestants confidently walking the ramp in stylish and creative outfits. In the boys’ category, Ugen Thinley Bhutia emerged as the winner, followed by Jigmi Dorjee and Segera Hang Subba as first and second runners-up respectively. In the girls’ category, Rushika Subba claimed the title, while Miknur Lhamu Lepcha and Chukith Lepcha secured the first and second runner-up positions.
The day concluded on a high musical note with the inter-college Battle of the Bands competition. Sikkim Government College Rhenock emerged victorious with a powerful performance that energized the audience. String Souls from SGC Namchi secured the first runner-up position, while Sanchaman Limboo Government College, Gyalshing, finished as the second runner-up.
The third day of Aarohan Fest not only celebrated talent and creativity but also highlighted the unity in diversity that defines Sikkim’s cultural identity. The enthusiastic participation of students and the overwhelming response from the audience made the event a memorable celebration of art, culture, and youth spirit.
