Sikkim Government College, Namchi Receives Felicitation on World Blood Donors Day 2026

Sikkim Government College, Namchi was felicitated by the Blood Centre, District Hospital Namchi on the occasion of World Blood Donors Day 2026 in recognition of its continued support in organizing blood donation camps and promoting voluntary blood donation among students and staff.

The felicitation programme was held on 18 June 2026 at the Conference Hall, District Hospital Namchi. The event was organized to honour regular blood donation camp organizers of Namchi District for their valuable contributions towards strengthening voluntary blood donation initiatives and supporting public healthcare services.

The programme was graced by the presence of Dr. Sarda Rai, Chief Medical Officer, Namchi District, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Bishal Pradhan, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Namchi. Representatives from various institutions, healthcare organizations, and community groups participated in the event.

Mr. Baichung Bhutia, Senior Technician, Blood Centre, District Hospital Namchi, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of World Blood Donors Day and the vital role played by voluntary blood donors and supporting institutions in ensuring an adequate supply of safe blood. Dr. Dichen Ongmu Bhutia, Senior Blood Centre Officer, introduced the theme of this year's observance, “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.”, emphasizing the importance of community participation in blood donation initiatives.

During the programme, Sikkim Government College, Namchi received a certificate of appreciation in recognition of its sustained commitment to voluntary blood donation and community service. The honour reflects the college's dedication to social responsibility and its active involvement in promoting public health awareness.

As part of the celebration, Mr. Kishore Baniya, State Coordinator, Red Ribbon Club Sikkim, led the World Blood Donors Day pledge, where participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting voluntary blood donation and raising awareness about its life-saving impact.

The programme provided an excellent platform for interaction among healthcare professionals, blood donation volunteers, and institutional representatives working towards the common goal of ensuring a safe and sufficient blood supply.
