On 27^th May 2026, the Library Committee of Sikkim Government College, Namchi, organized the Library Cleaning Day. Student representatives from every department volunteered for the activity. 4 students each represented the departments of Commerce and Mathematics while 2 students each represented their respective departments. The students were assisted by the library staffs and the teaching faculty members who are part members of the committee.

            The programme began at 2 pm and finished by 4 pm. The cleaning activity involved dusting and sweeping the top of all the drawers, sweeping the floors, wiping off grease and pen marks off the tables, wiping of glasses in the drawers, putting naphthalene balls in the drawer, arrangement and setting all the books upright. All three sections – the office of the Librarian, central library and reading section for staffs were cleaned thoroughly. After inspecting the book racks, all the drawers were locked. The chairs and tables were arranged neatly. The cleaning programme ended with a group photograph and tea and snacks for the volunteer students.
